Grand Rapids Ballet Summer Intensive 2017

Ruby is from Portland, Oregon, and began her training at Classical Ballet Academy at the age of four. She has attended the summer intensives of Grand Rapids Ballet and Ballet Austin. Ruby has competed in Youth America Grand Prix and has placed in the top 12 and in 3rd place for contemporary in the Seattle regionals.

Whom do you most admire and why?

My dance teacher growing up, Sarah Rigles; she helped shape me into the dancer I am today and was always supportive and motivating.

What excites you creatively?

The opportunity to be in a new work. It is such an incredible experience to be able to work with the choreographer and see how their creative process functions.

What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt?  

I’ve always been interested in pursuing a career in computer science.

What is the best piece of dance advice you’ve ever received?

When times get tough, always remember the reasons why you started dancing and why you love it.
