William Shearstone

Trainee since 2018

William, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, began his dance training at 14 years old at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School where he trained in ballet, jazz, modern, music, acting, and musical theater. He joined the Atlanta Ballet Academy’s pre-pro division his senior year. After graduating high school, he earned a Trainee position at BalletMet and spent two seasons dancing there. William has attended summer intensives at Richmond Ballet, BalletMet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet.

Whom do you most admire and why?

Lady Gaga and Sasha Velour. Gaga is a prolific star and Sasha is a queer icon who both came into their success by being completely and unapologetically themselves. As far as dancers go I’m obsessed with James Whiteside for the same reason.

What excites you creatively?

Music, color, and a great story

What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt?

An author.

What is the best piece of dance advice you’ve ever received?

Listen to the music; it will tell you what to do.
