State arts grants to Grand Rapids area for 2014 shoot up 58 percent from last year
The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs has awarded more than $7.6 million in arts grants for 2014, a 36 percent boost from the more than $5.6 million awarded last year.
Greater Grand Rapids, however, will see an increase of nearly 58 percent next year.
Grand Rapids Ballet and West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology also were awarded two grants. WMCAT will receive a total of $53,777 while Michigan’s only professional ballet company will get $39,000.
