Experience dance together as a family. Dance has the power to move your child in a variety of ways: From the music to the costumes to the lighting to the storytelling, each holds the potential to awaken their creativity. In fact, a National Endowment for the Arts study reveals positive associations between arts activities and your child’s development of critical social skills such as helping, sharing, caring, etiquette, confidence, and empathizing with others.

That’s why we’re so excited to bring you our new Family Matinee Series in the 2019-20 season.

Four interactive Saturday one-hour matinees of our company productions (FirebirdEternal DesireJumstart 2020, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream) are tailored specifically to introduce your young ones to the world of professional ballet. You and your family will enjoy pre-show experiential activities in the lobby such as dancer meet-and-greets, a costume petting zoo, and an introduction to the barre. From there, Artistic Director James Sofranko will welcome you prior to the performance and take your questions after the curtain comes down. You may even get the chance to come on stage!

We believe experiencing the arts is more important than ever to develop the next generation of happy, well-rounded children, so we hope you’ll join us. Plus, it’s a lot of fun, too.
