Gorgeous ‘Swan Lake’ offers promising future for Grand Rapids Ballet

Grand Rapids Ballet on Friday opened a brand new production of “Swan Lake” that was as gorgeous to watch as it was promising to ponder the company’s future.

Dawnell Dryja gave a magnetic performance in the dual role of Odette, the White Swan, who is cursed by the sorcerer, Von Rothbart, to remain a swan until freed by the love of a prince; and of Odile, the Black Swan, Von Rothbart’s daughter, who uses her whiles to deter Prince Siegfried from his devotion to Odette.
