Grand Rapids Ballet‘s ’A Midsummer Night‘s Dream’ is an engaging journey of astonishing originality
Grand Rapids Ballet last week premiered an entirely new production by Olivier Wevers that’s an engaging journey full of choreography that sometimes is astonishing in its originality and inventiveness.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” opened last Friday in GRB’s Wege Theatre. Performances continue Friday through Sunday to conclude Grand Rapids Ballet’s 2013-14 season.
Lovely costumes for the fairies make the production easy on the eye. An entirely white stage – white walls, white floor, movable set pieces in white – provide a blank canvas for lighting designer Michael Mazzola to paint with exquisite colors and shapes in light.
